Hold On, Hold On....Suspended!?!: NYPD detective suspended after kidnapping victim found in his garage.

An NYPD officer has been placed on an unpaid suspension after a kidnapping victim was found bound and gagged in his garage in Queens, Friday (July 27). Detective Ondre Johnson, a 17-year veteran of the department is being questioned for the crime after the victim—Brian Karikari—was found.

Karikari was abducted Friday morning, and held in lieu of a $75,000 ransom.  Johnson, who works in the Brooklyn North gang unit, was questioned about his involvement in the kidnapping of the 25-year-old, whose whereabouts were revealed through a trace of his cell phone. Police arrived at the home for questioning, when they heard Karikari's cries from the garage. Upon entry, officers uncovered a fake credit card machine, and a safe in the home.   Following an investigation, and Johnson's denial of any involvement in the act, he was absolved of any wrong doing.  However, his cousin, Hakeem Clark, was not so lucky. The 30-year-old, who lives on the side of the family's home, and three other men, were all charged with kidnapping. The two other suspects have been identified as Alfredo Haughton, 24, and James Gayle, 27.

While Johnson was seen as “running with a questionable crowd,” others on the force have been the subject of corruption, and racial profiling investigations.  The four men involved in the kidnapping were arraigned on Saturday (July 28), and remain in police custody.
