After the departures of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, American Idol was looking for a shot in the arm. Last month the talent show announced that Mariah Carey would be joining the show as a judge. Now comes a new report that Nicki Minaj will also be a judge.
"I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it," one insider told US. "A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening."
A second source says the rapper, 29, is "100% confirmed to judge American Idol."
Longtime judge Randy Jackson is reportedly being moved into a "mentoring role."
Nicki Minaj may well become a judge on "American Idol," but it will be at the expense of Mariah Carey, who we're told hung up the phone when she was told Nicki was the top candidate.
