Another One Gets Released: Terrell Owens Released By Seattle Seahawks

Well damn, that was fast. Terrell Owens is no longer on theSeattle Seahawks. The NFL player was picked up by the team a few weeks ago, and released over the weekend, but is remaining optimistic about his future. “I'm no longer a Seahawk,” Owens tweeted Sunday (Aug. 26). “I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I'm truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver.”

Owens became a casualty of reductions mandated by the league, which dropped the team's player numbers from 90 to 75. “We really liked the group that was assembled,” said Sehawks coach, Pete Carroll. “Terrell came in here and busted his tail and he looked really effective right from the start. But as we just took a look at our guys that are coming through the program and growing up with us we thought it would be best for us to stay with those guys.”

Unfortunately, the 38-year-old receiver's short time with the team was riddled with struggle, as he finished the preseason with only two receptions. He also dropped a 46-yard potential touchdown in a game against Denver, and missed an important catch against Kansas City Friday (Aug. 24), among other missteps.

In May Owens was dropped from the Indoor Football League team the Allen Wranglers.
