It's Getting Serious: Florida Tanning Salon Owner Commits Suicide Over Obama Election Win

There have been many negative responses to President Obama's re-election, but this is perhaps one of the most tragic. A salon owner in Key West, Fla. committed suicide because of Obama's win.

Henry Hamilton, warned that he would take his life if the commander in chief was elected to a second term, and sadly kept his promise after last week's election.

Hamilton was found dead Nov. 8 (Thursday), from an apparent overdose. Two empty bottles of Xanax and Seroquel—used to treat anxiety and schizophrenia—were found near his body alongside his will, where the words “F-ck Obama!” were written.

The 64-year-old owner of Tropical Tan was “very upset about the election results,” and was “very stressed about his business,” according to his partner, Michael Cossey.

After a night of playing cards with friends, Cossey returned to the condo he shared with Hamilton, and fell asleep on the coach at approximately 6 a.m. One of Hamilton's friends had been worried about his well-being and asked police to check on his mental welfare. Officer Pablo Rodriguez responded to the request and headed over to Hamilton's home where he woke Cossey up, before discovering Hamilton's body.

Autopsy results are pending but Cossey believes that Hamilton drunk alcohol after ingesting the pills. The last time the two spoke was on the night of the election, and Hamilton previously told his partner, “If Barack gets re-elected, I'm not going to be around.”
