The 2013 Hip-Hop Ball took place over the weekend along with the 2013 Presidential Inauguration in D.C. 2 Chainz was honored at the ball, along with the likes of Meek Mill, Doug E. Fresh who was given the lifetime achievement award along with MC Lyte, and many others. John Legend spoke on the influence of the hip-hop culture and community having a solid influence on the re-election of President Barack Obama.
"I think hip-hop had a role in making sure we elected a black president in America because we made it so that black people were in people's homes ... through our music and through our culture. Doing my thing on the chars is one thing, but to be getting honored on another avenue, it just feels like a blessing. I'm keeping my head leveled and staying humble."
