At three gun shows that took place on Saturday, five people were shot.
During the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, NC, two pedestrians were mistakenly wounded after a 12-gauage shotgun accidentally went off after Gary Lynn Wilson, 36, the owner, was asked to remove the weapon from the case at a security check point. A man was shot in the hand while a woman got hit in the side. A retired deputy sheriff was added to the list with a head injury.
Around the same time at Ohio's Medina County Gun Show a man accidentally wounded his friend in the arm and leg when handling a semi-automatic handgun he purchased. Officials said the two wounds were caused by the bullet ricocheting off the floor.
In Indianapolis, IN, Emory L. Cozee shot himself in the head while loading his .45 caliber semi-automatic when leaving the grounds of the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show.
No one was killed during these incidents but victims were hospitalized. No charges were filed, however, the fate of gun owner Wilson is still to be determined.
