Wood Harris, former star on the hit TV series, "The Wire" recently shared his thoughts to AllHipHop.com on the current state of the music industry, and revealed that he is very displeased with the direction that it has gone in recent years. He specifically addressed Chief Keef's negatively publicized lyrics and actions, Lupe Fiasco being a great artist and how Harris is upset that he is retiring, and also that hip hop lost a lot of its substance after Tupac was murdered.
"Its comin back around full circle where this sound thats out now in a major way will fall by the wayside..the ones that have the power are too busy running around with wack bitches that are draining there strength to the point where they are so comfortable with the spot they're in, they don't see a need to speak on things that they figure don't effect them and that just shows how far removed they are from the hood. They exploited to get where they are no matter if they go to shoot a video in the hood or not.. because the ones that pull their strings got them drunk on finally being "excepted". This world is flying in reverse while people are fooled that its moving forward because its more things and stuff to be distracted by..its fucked when a bullshit rapper can get over by sayin the same shit on every track just worded different and a different subject topic thrown in there to try to fool people that its not the same track as the one before..with the same sound effects over heavy drums that not only one rapper but about 5 are using too..then these marks are throwin out complilations so of course that wouldn't stand up and talk about shit that matters. They can't compare themselves to true artist and stand alone on they own on they own album..got alot of what i call "feature creatures" on they shit..actin too..its terrible when you can recognize a reality star on the street faster then somebody who puts in time and work at they craft memorizing lines and what not".
DAMN RIGHT!
