The search engine giant tops Apple in the annual list by BrandZ, after leading it for the last three years. Millward Brown reports that Google has grown 40% since the release of the 2013 list, coming out to nearly $11 billion.
Apple, however, actually declined 20% in the last year, as confidence in the brand descends following Steve Jobs’ death in 2011.
“Apple’s innovations have been more evolutionary than revolutionary,” Millward Brown VP, Oscar Yuan, says.
Apple ranked at No. 2 on the list with a value of nearly $148 billion, IBM was in third with $107 brand value, Microsoft was fourth at $90 billion, and McDonald’s rounds out the top 5 with $86 billion.
