Players Need To Chill: Cleveland Browns Rookie Ausar Walcott Charged With Attempted Murder

NFL players are losing it during the off-season. Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez was charged with murder today, and he's not the only professional player in trouble over allegedly trying to take someone's life. 

Ausar Walcott, rookie for the Cleveland Browns turned himself in for attempted murder Tuesday (June 26), for punching a man in the head. The linebacker attacked the victim outside of the Palace Gentleman's Club in Passaic, N.J. Sunday (June 21). 

Walcott struck 24-year-old Derrick Jones, critically injuring him. Jones, of New York, was taken to Manhattan's Harlem Hospital Center. Authorities were still investigating the incident and "continuing to canvas the area for witnesses." One day after releasing a statement saying they were "aware" of the situation, the Browns released 23-year-old Walcott, a native of Hackensack, N.J. He is being charged with first degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree endangering a victim.

Aaron Hernandez has been charged with murder. The now former New England Patriots tight end was arrested this morning in North Attleborough, Mass. 

 The New York Times reports that Hernandez was charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, the 27-year-old semipro football player who was found shot dead in an industrial park near the NFL player's home. 

Hernandez plead not guilty to the murder charge as well as five over gun-related charges that were leveled against him. Shortly after his arrest this morning, the New England Patriots cut ties with Hernandez, releasing him from the squad. "A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss," read the Patriots organization's press statement. 

"Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do." Hernandez signed a 5-year contract with the Patriots last year worth potentially up to $40 million, which is now pretty much void.

Arrest Made: Patriots Aaron Hernandez Arrested In Connection With Murder

Aaron Hernandez is in a world of trouble. The promising New England Patriots tight end was arrested this morning (June 26) in connecting with the murder of man who body was found near the NFL player's home. 

TMZ reports: Hernandez was taken into custody at his home in Massachusetts. He was handcuffed and led into a waiting police cruiser, which left the scene moments later ... presumably headed for a local police station. 

The 23-year-old NFL star is reportedly set to be arraigned later today. There are reports based on law enforcement sources that Hernandez destroyed evidence and could be charged with obstruction of justice. So far, no formal charges have been announced. The move comes days after cops searched Hernandez's Massachusetts home ... looking for evidence connected to the murder of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, a ex semi-pro football player.

 Lloyd's body was discovered in a park in North Attleborough, Mass last Monday. It appears he was shot through the back of the head. Lloyd's family says the NFL star does have a connection to Lloyd -- but they wouldn't elaborate. According to reports, Lloyd had been dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancée. 

TMZ broke the story ... Hernandez is also facing a lawsuit stemming from a separate incident, in which he allegedly shot a man in the face following a dispute at a Miami strip club back in February. Hernandez is a rising star with the Patriots and signed a 5-year contract worth $40 MILLION just last summer. DAMN!: Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson Arrested, Sentenced To 30 Days In Jail

Once again, Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson has lost. The currently unemployed NFL receiver was arrested today for a probation violation and has been ordered to serve 30 days in jail.

The kicker is that Evelyn Lozada's ex-husband could have avoided his fate. TMZ reports:

Chad Johnson was just arrested and placed in handcuffs inside a Florida courtroom ... after the judge in his probation violation hearing ordered the ex-NFL star to spend 30 days in jail.

The move comes after Johnson pissed off the Broward County judge by slapping his male lawyer's butt during the hearing.  As previously reported, Johnson's attorney was thiiiis close to sealing a deal that would have kept Johnson OUT of jail for violating his probation earlier this year.

But the butt slap enraged the judge ... and she took the deal off the table.

Now, Johnson's punishment is much harsher than what was originally proposed -- and he has been ordered to spend 30 days in jail.  His probation was also extended until December 21, 2013 ... and he must complete an additional 25 hours of community service along with extra therapy sessions.

The Struggle: Chad Johnson Too Broke To Pay Agreed Upon Child Support

Chad Johnson is really just drawing the short end of the stick over and over. After recently becoming a wanted man in Florida, TMZ reports that his finances are in disrepair.

Chad filed court docs relating to his battle with baby mama Andrea Pearson, requesting that the judge lower his child support payments because he simply can't pay it. He currently pays $5,420 every month to Pearson.

Chad agreed to the amount back in March 2012, when he still had an NFL team. Now however, he "finds himself without a contract and without a team. Simply unemployed."

Additionally, Chad knows that at this point, he'll never make the kind of dough he used to.
