Apple has been making innovative products since their existence, but who knew they'd been improving the iPhone since 1983?!
The early version was a land line phone, which had a built in screen, controlled by a stylus. It was designed by Apple IIc computer developer Hartmut Esslinger, who foreshadowed touchscreen designs for the iPad and iPhone.
The images come courtesy of Stanford University’s massive trove of Apple documents, which were close guarded for years until Steve Jobs rejoined the company and Standford donated the archives.
