After years of being glamorized by hip-hop culture, a high-end
prescription cough syrup brand, known in the streets as lean, has been
taken off the market.
According to TMZ.com,
a rep for Actavis — which produces the popular Promethazine Codeine
product — credited the halt in production and sales to recent negative
media attention over drug abuse worries.
“Given [recent media attention], Actavis has made the bold and
unprecedented decision to cease all production and sales of its
Promethazine Codeine product,” said a rep for the company.
Before the announcement, pint bottles sold for around $800. Now, TMZ
reports that some rappers are offering up to $100,000 to get whatever’s
left from their suppliers.

Kid Cudi Talks Drug Addiction And Struggles With Fame
In a recent interview, the rapper explained how he quit using by making a personal choice. "For me, I just got to this point, and especially up until recently, I gave up liquor, I don't drink anymore, it's been five and a half months I've been sober," Cudi said. "The booze was a new thing for me, I didn't realize I was an alcoholic all these years. I had a problem, I think with any addiction you have to be ready to make the choice, whether it's cigarettes or anything. You have to just commit and you just have to stick with it. I stopped everything cold turkey.
When I had my cocaine problem, I stopped cold turkey, I didn't go to rehab. I don't believe in these things. Some people need the extra help, not me. I wasn't a drug addict before this crap, I wasn't doing cocaine, I wasn't getting wasted every night because I didn't want to be alone. I wasn't this dark person before the madness, I was a whole other dude "You just have to make the choice and decide the person you wanna be and stick with it," he continued. "You get to a certain age where the people around you are not gonna be on that rollercoaster all day long ready for you to go up, ready for you to go down, and stick with you through all the madness. People want you to be one person and stick with it and I chose to be clean and be sober and get my life together. For myself, for my health, for my daughter, for my family."
Later, Cudi pinpointed fame as the element that triggered his substance abuse issues. "I couldn't deal with fame, short and simple," he said. "For me, I could not wrap my head around the fact that a week before I blew up, I was just a regular dude, and a week after, it was just on, it was a whole other thing. When I first started getting recognized in the street it was cool, 'cause it wasn't extreme, it was just like, 'Oh man I like your music. Could I take a picture?' It was chill. But then, when it started to be everywhere I went, it was hard for me because I never wanted to make that adjustment. I didn't want to be like, 'Oh now, I'm famous now, I guess I gotta live a celebrity lifestyle.' Spent 23, 24 years of my life living a normal life, it was hard for me to feel like I needed to make that switch just because of my job."

What The!?!: Lamar Odom Reportedly Paranoid, Holed Up In Crib On A Crack Binge With 2 Females
What is happening with Lamar Odom is extremely sad. Addiction is apparently tearing down everything he has built throughout his 14 years in the National Basketball Association, not to mention his marriage to Khloe Kardashian.
Odom is in danger of losing both if he doesn't get help soon.
Odom is in danger of losing both if he doesn't get help soon.
He is currently a free agent. No NBA team is going to offer him a contract unless he cleans up his act, but things only seem to be getting worse. TMZ reports that the talented player is currently on a crack binge with 2 females in their 20s. One of them he is having an affair with. He's holed up in a home 100 miles outside of Los Angeles. Odom is paranoid about drawing too much attention to himself, so his driver makes frequent trips to his dealer to score drugs.
His best friend is also staying at the home.
His paranoia has led to him to start using a "phone app that allows him to text people but the texts are automatically deleted once the texts are read. The app also notifies Lamar if they try and screenshot the message." Odom rarely leaves the home and has shuttled between 3 different cribs in the last 2 months to avoid being caught.

DAMN!: Undercover Cops Seize 20 Pounds Of Heroin From Double Parked Car
CBS New York reports: According to police, members of the 34 Precinct Anti-Crime team were on routine patrol in an unmarked police car near West 207th Street and Sherman Avenue around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday when they saw a man toss a duffel back into the trunk of a double-parked car.
The block is a known drug haven, police said. The two plainclothes officers got out of their vehicle to approach the man in the driver's seat, identified as Joancis Delacruz-Arias, 26, of Yonkers. The man who put the duffel bag in the trunk ran off and remains unidentified, police said. Expect homie to keep running because it's a safe bet his connect is very pissed right now. Just saying. In total the DTs found 25,000 glassine bags of heroin, worth about $75,000 in street, in the duffel bag.

Special Menu?: Papa John's Delivery Man Sold Yayo With Pizza
Even drug dealers have side hustles. A Papa John's pizza delivery man was popped for selling coke (the powdery variety) to undercover cops in Brooklyn since 2011.
Papa John's employee Ramon Rodriguez, 46, allegedly made 19 coca1ne sales to undercover cops since 2011, many while on the job, and was finally busted after selling a kilo to police for $27,000 Wednesday evening, authorities charge.
The pieman sold mainly in front of the Sunset Park franchise on Fifth Avenue and 58th Street while still in uniform, the NYPD said, sometimes hiding the coca1ne in a pizza box. Before finally being arrested, Rodriguez was making serious dough. Pun very much intended.
When police searched his home they found $4,500 in cash and drug paraphernalia, including a scale and packaging material, according to the NYPD. A small amount of cocaine was also allegedly found in Rodriguez's car.
His prior sales to undercover officers totaled about $18,000, in amounts ranging from 20 grams for $600 to 70 grams for $2,100. That's not counting the sales he probably made to civilians, too.
Rodriguez has been charged with criminal sale of and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He faces...a lot of time in the bing.

Drugs Found on Justin Bieber Tour Bus
By JON BLISTEIN
Drugs and a stun gun were found on Justin Bieber's tour bus used after Swedish police raided the vehicle, which was parked beneath the concert venue Globen in Stockholm where the pop star was performing, the BBC reports. Police did not say what the drug was and have sent the evidence to a lab for analysis. Cops, however, reportedly raided the empty bus after smelling marijuana coming from inside while it was parked outside the hotel Bieber was staying at earlier in the day.
The drug squad was called and subsequently searched the bus after it dropped a number of people off at the venue. No arrests were made, no suspects were named and the police do not plan on making any more of the matter. Just a few months ago Bieber caused a stir among his fans after paparazzi photos caught the young pop-star at a hotel party smoking what appeared to be pot. Though he didn't address the drug issue outright, Bieber took to Twitter soon after, writing: "everyday growing and learning. trying to be better. u get knocked down, u get up." He added, "i see all of u. i hear all of u. i never want to let any of you down. i love u. and..thank u."
Bieber is currently in the middle of the European leg of his Believe world tour, which has been turbulent at times. In London, the singer got into a screaming match with a paparazzi. In Germany, customs officials detained and quarantined a pet monkey the pop star had brought with him without the proper paperwork (he has a month to pick up the capuchin, named Mally). And after returning to California following a show in Poland, Bieber reportedly threatened his neighbor during a confrontation about the parties he threw at his home.
