Marching Forward: Lauryn Hill Begins 3-Month Jail Sentence

Uncle Sam doesn't care who you are. If you try to front on his dough, you either pay up or go to jail, or even both. The latter is the case for Lauryn Hill, who started her three-month prison sentence for tax evasion today.

TMZ reports: Ready or not ... Lauryn Hill has just reported to federal prison in Connecticut, where she will begin her 3 month sentence for tax evasion, TMZ has learned. Officials tell TMZ ... the former Fugees singer was booked into the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury at 11:15 AM EST.

We're told the FCI is a "minimum security type facility" where inmates live in "barracks type" housing. We're also told 38-year-old Hill will not be isolated in the facility -- and will be housed with the general population.

As previously reported, Hill pled guilty last year to three counts of tax evasion for failing to file returns on $1.8 million she earned from 2005 to 2007. This entire saga has been struggle for Ms. Hill. She did pay the IRS back, while also partially blaming her failure to pay her taxes on slavery. Hill also signed a label deal with Columbia Records to help raise the funds to pay the back taxes.

Uncle Sam Always Watchin!: Fat Joe Sentenced To 4 Months In Jail For Tax Evasion

It might be the accountants and the lawyers to blame for tax issues, but it's always the celebrity that ends up going down. Fat Joe was just sentenced to four months in prison for stiffing the government more than $1 million in taxes.

Joe pled guilty back in December, admitting he failed to pay a large amount of taxes for the years 2007 and 2008. He was originally facing a much harsher penalty of two years in prison, but got off with four months, a $15,000 fine, and one-year supervised release.

If Joe is looking on the bright side, at least he gets to enjoy the rest of the summer. The court ordered him to report to jail by August 26.

Good Answer!: Mike Tyson " I Love Paying Taxes!"

Mike Tyson is hoping that "Obamacare" will help him pay off the millions he owes in back taxes. Instead of running from the debt, the former boxing champ announced on Fox News that he is "looking forward" to paying his bills .

Tyson -- who has been "blue-collering it" by way of one-man show and various other gigs-- told Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade that he's ready to send Uncle Sam a check.

"I'm so proud to be in this," he said. "I look forward to paying off my taxes and paying off my country, because that's my duty."

But he also understands the conspiracy theorists. "I know they say that's legal extortion, but listen, I'm living in this country and if I got to pay taxes, that's the money that I paid for my life on Earth."

From there Tyson traveled down memory lane, saying that despite having "the biggest liberal family in the world," his money was better off under Republican presidents. "I had the more money when Bush and Reagan was president! Oh I shouldn't -- my wife's going to kill me for that."

"Bush and Reagan had this idea that you should keep your money," Kilmeade added.

Once worth an estimated $400 million, the now bankrupt sports star is hoping that the Obama administration will save him some money. "I'd like that to work for me," he said."I'ma work on that one too with this Obama administration. See can this Obamacare help us keep some money."
